This is the worst time in our life. There is no money at all. my husband has basically lost work. ?
He works in construction and we were already struggling. And within 2weeks we are falling fast. Rent is due at the 1st of the month and we do not have it. We have robbed peter to pay paul for the last 4 weeks. I have found more work, but now my computer has a virus, and I needed that to work from home. Please give suggestions.
Is our landlord going to kick us out? In January we will have money. By then I will income from both jobs that I have and income tax money, but I am afraid he will not wait until then. That being said, I am a landlord. As a landlord, the only thing I hate more than rent not being paid on time, is no communication from my tenant as to why.
Contact your landlord IN WRITING and tell him/her your situation. In these tough economic times, no landlord is going to evict a good tenant who has fallen on hard times. Unless your rental property is in a much sought-after area and can be easily rented, no landlord wants an empty unit.
However, make sure that you pay both rents when you say you are going to pay it! This way, if you meet with difficulty again in the future, you have established good will with your landlord.
