work from home long island

moving to atlanta…advice?
hi there!
Hubby and I are thinking of moving from our Long Island, NY home to a suburb of Atlanta. We both love the south and the lifestyle fits us perfectly…
so id like to know, from people who have lived there/live there now, what are some great suburbs for raising children around Atlanta? I’ll be commuting for work so i need to live within 25-30 miles MAX. any advice would be appreciated as well
thanks!!!
has anyone heard of Covington? We found a gorgeous looking home there for a very reasonable price. we’re wondering…what’s the catch??
and are there any definite neighborhoods to AVOID if moving to suburbs of Atlanta (within a 30 mile radius)
Covington is kinda out there – I wouldn’t want to really live there, it isn’t as close to the city as you think and commuting is a pain in the rear.
I would suggest Alpharetta, Sandy Springs, Marietta, Kennesaw, Woodstock, Roswell and Vinings. They are closer to the city, but still in the suburbs and they aren’t as far away from the city as Covington. Cobb County, North Fulton County and Gwinnett County are all counties with pretty good schools. I’d stay away from Clayton County (their school accreditation was yanked in September) and Fayette County just made some big cutbacks in their schools in Fayette, teachers pay are getting cut big time along with their benefits…
I’d definately stay away from Hapeville, College Park, East Point, and Riverdale. They are all down by the airport and aren’t the safest places to live.
