Yes, it is very difficult to predict. I definitely like some references from clients to determine the truth of his experience with that particular company. Think about it logically, how can you ensure that someone be signed into your particular business? What are your guarantees if that does not happen? I've had friends who have lost money doing this and failed to score, and had no luck contacting the company after the purchase.
